Leander Joseph “Butch” Humphrey, Jr. was born on February 12, 1939 a long time resident of Sorrento, LA, passed away on January 8, 2021 at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Sorrento. He was a graduate of St. Amant High School and a retired Local 37 Boilermaker. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a faithful member and usher at St. Anne Catholic Church in Sorrento. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family, in-laws and friends. He loved camping, traveling & gaming. Butch had a deep appreciation for sports and was a member of Ascension Parish Recreation Board. He was a gifted basketball player, coached youth baseball for 15 years. He enjoyed watching all his grandchildren play sports and Sunday visits. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 year, Ruth Parent Humphrey; children, Ty Humphrey (friend Rhonda Dauzat), Jan Humphrey, Jill Rumfellow (Jody), Torey Humphrey (Michelle); grandchildren, Lauren Vince, Chase Humphrey (fiancé Victoria Campbell), Raegan Vince, Jadyn Rumfellow, Easton Humphrey, Evyn Humphrey; great grandchild, Adalyn Humphrey; sister, Bobbie Jane Sevario (Joey); brother, Duane Humphrey (Letha). He is preceded in death by; father, Leander Joseph Humphrey, Sr. (Dora); mother, Elva Humphrey Millet (Joe); sister, Peggy Gautreau (Leon); in laws, Felicien and Elva Parent. Mass of Christian Burial will be held St. Anne Catholic Church at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 celebrated by Father Lee. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Mausoleum in St. Amant.
