Loretta Joan Duet Aucoin

Loretta Joan Duet Aucoin, 88, passed away quietly at Chateau D’ville Rehabilitation and Retirement Center on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She was one of ten children born to Orphe J. and Aline Duet. She was a native of Labadieville and resident of Donaldsonville. After graduating high school in 1954 she moved to Donaldsonville where she started working. After getting married on June 25, 1955 to Carroll J. Aucoin, Sr., she worked for many years at Dixie Drug Store next to Prevost Hospital. Then in 1979 at the age of 43 she decided to go back to school to become an LPN. After obtaining her LPN Certification in 1980 she went to work at Prevost Hospital where she worked until she retired in 1993.

She is survived by her three sons, Carroll J. Aucoin, Jr. and wife Tonie, Jeffrey P. Aucoin and wife Peggy, Keith A. Aucoin and wife Gisele; her eight grandchildren, Jill A. Lemann and husband Jon, Abbie Hue and husband Jason, Sunnie LeGleu, Michelle A. Henke and husband Michael, Christopher Aucoin and wife Wendi, Jacob Aucoin and wife Jana, Courtney A. Addison and husband William; and her twelve great-grandchildren, Lanie Lemann, Mollie Hue, Olivia and Luke Henke, Caroline and Ava Aucoin, Jude, Jackson, and Evie Aucoin, William (Liam) III, Isla, and Eris Addison; and her sister, Inez D. Traigle.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll J. Aucoin, Sr.; her grandson, Jonathan Aucoin; her parents, Orphe J. Duet and Aline Gross Duet; her brothers, Lawrence Duet, Hugh Duet, Chester Duet; her sisters, Mildred D. Boudreaux, Emelda D. Hidalgo, Doris D. Gibson, Elizabeth D. Ordoyne, Hilda Duet; and her niece, Linda H. Sirois.

A special thanks to Chateau D’ville Rehabilitation and Retirement Center staff and Cardinal Hospice staff for taking great care of mom.

Visitation will be held at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church of Donaldsonville on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm.  Entombment to follow in the church mausoleum.
