Lynelle J. Wallace

July 12, 1948 — September 17, 2024

Baton Rouge

Lynelle J. Wallace, 76, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on September 17th, 2024. She was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. Lynelle later moved to Longwood, Fl, where she resided for 36 years before returning to BR for the last 3 years of her life. Lynelle was an overachiever who excelled at everything she did. She spent many years as a real estate agent winning numerous awards for being the highest in sales for years. Along with her husband Richard, she became a real estate broker and opened her own office. After moving to Florida, she switched careers and became a loan originator for a major corporation. Again, she won many awards for being top producer and excelled to the position of Senior Vice President of her branch. A lifelong football fanatic, Lynelle was your go to girl If you needed stats or facts on any team. Saturdays were made for football, and nothing should or could interrupt her game time. GEAUX TIGERS! She had a passion for cooking and could make a mean gumbo that would leave you begging for more. She loved shopping for shoes, purses, and jewelry. She cherished the time spent with friends traveling, going to movies, plays, and luncheons. One of her dear friends stated, “she was the most positive human being there was”. Another stated after their 37 years of friendship, “she will be embedded deep in my heart forever”. Lynelle was a huge animal lover but was obsessed with Pekingese. She had many throughout her life. She fostered for a local rescue (pekes only) and foster failed with a few resulting in her having six at one time. Fun fact: Originally only royalty was allowed to own the breed… So of course, our mother who felt sure she was also royal should own them. She always said she couldn’t get enough of their smashed face and long hair. To her there was no better breed. Above all, Lynelle loved spending precious time with her big, blended family. Our annual family vacations were the highlight of the year. 20 people, one house, a few dogs, and a karaoke machine. It made for an interesting mix especially when Lynelle and Rubin could be heard at 3 AM singing “I did it my way” by Frank Sinatra, followed by 18 people begging them to stop. She truly loved every minute she spent with her family.

Lynelle is survived by her children, Tammy Harris (Mark), Jan Napierkowski (Rob), Jennifer Sons, grandchildren Blaine Alves (Ira), Brittany Sons, Dillon Harris (March), great grandchildren Asher, Valerie, Avery, Sage, Grayson, her very much loved “Plastic Family” (inside family joke) Ricky (Nichelle), Russell and their many precious children, and grandchildren.

Lynelle is proceeded in death by her husband, Richard Wallace, Mother, Mildred Diamond, sister, Laurie Leigh Benjamin, son, Darryl Sons, granddaughter, Casey Alegria, Blended children: Reanne and Rubin.

Our mom will be remembered truly as the strongest woman we know, and we are so honored to be able to call her ours.
