Margaret Yvonne Curtis, affectionately known as "Yawney," passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29th, 2024, at her home in Kentwood, LA, at the age of 71. She was surrounded by her loved ones during her final moments. Yvonne was born on August 5, 1952, in Baton Rouge to Rev. Delmas K. Harris Sr. and Tena Carpenter Harris.
Yvonne was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished Aunt, and doting Nana. Her life's passion revolved around singing praises, with a heart dedicated to serving the Lord.
In her journey beyond this life, Yvonne is reunited with her parents Rev. Delmas K. Harris Sr. and Tena Carpenter Harris; In-laws Russel and Alice Reeves Curtis; brothers Delmas Jr. and Milton Lee; sister Sarah Bankston; and nephew James Curtis. Pallbearers will be Dallas Bankston, Stephen Achord, Gabe Lomax, Eric Bankston, Johnny Curtis, Russ Johnson and David Reed.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Milton Curtis; daughters Kelli Curtis and Charlotte Achord (Stephen); granddaughters Kourtney Lomax (Gabe) and Lily Achord; grandson Dallas Bankston (Bailey); great-grandchildren Liam, Kennedy, Riley, Hadley Lomax, and Thalia Bankston; brother Billy Harris; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
The services celebrating Yvonne's life will be held at New Zion Baptist Church in Kentwood, LA. A visitation will take place on May 3rd at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., and the burial ceremony at 12:00 p.m. Officiated by Bro. Donnie Easley.
As we mourn the loss of Margaret Yvonne Curtis from our earthly presence, we also rejoice in the beautiful memories she leaves behind and the love that will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in peace knowing she was deeply loved and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
