Margaret Jo Hunnicutt

Margaret Jo Cannon “Peggy Jo” Hunnicutt, a native of Lafayette, Indiana and a longtime resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, died Sunday, March 30, 2025 at the age of 76. She was the Beloved Sister of Mary Lou Cannon Simpkins (Dwayne “Ron”), Joseph “Joey” Cannon, Samuel “Sammie” Stoup (Cindy). Grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 3. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, family, friends and dear coworkers. Best friend of Michelle, Dustin, Emily, and Lois Johnson and Ms. Evelyn. Chester “Bam” Hunnicut (Christy). She is loved and missed by her squawking bird, Peewee.

Margaret was predeceased by her late parents, Alice M Stroup, Joseph “Joe” G. Cannon, Bert J. Stroup; also Michael A “Mike” Cannon granddaughter, Stormie Hunnicut; niece, Ashley Stroup and nephew Joseph “Jody” Cannon.

She was faithfully employed as a home health caregiver at Island Home Care, LLC for 17 years. She loved to play Bingo, watch movies, create arts and crafts and care for birds.
