Margaret Hunt Pierce, “Margie”, peacefully went home to heaven on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, one month shy of 94 years young.
She was born on February 5, 1927, in Gold Dust, Louisiana to Carl and Florence Hunt. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Walter DeVane Pierce, Jr, and her son ‘Spike’ Walter DeVane Pierce, III.
Margie is survived by her three children, Jane Pierce Bradford, married to Donald E Bradford, Merriann Pierce Hornsby married to Scott Lee Hornsby, Carl Pierce married to Blinda Morris Pierce, and Spike’s wife Della Melton Pierce as well as their families, grandchildren, great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She also is survived by, Bill Hunt of Athens Alabama and Mickey Hunt of Brusly, LA, Billie Pierce Simmons of Baton Rouge and Eugenia Pierce Kozan of Baton Rouge.
Margie loved her family and many friends with intensity, always welcoming them with a smile and at least one compliment. She could always make anyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. She sincerely cared about people.
Margie lived a rich life and was a joy and blessing to everyone who knew her. Her intense love for others overflowed from her love for her heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit within her. She was a faithful follower of her Lord Jesus all her life from the age of five. She was a powerful prayer warrior and gifted Bible teacher.
She was a great encourager to others and a true worshipper, modeling true faith, genuine hope, and sincere love in her life.
Margie was an extremely talented and skilled artist. She attended both the New York Metropolitan College of Art and LSU’s School of Arts.
She leaves a legacy of Godly living and a true example of Christian life.
Margie will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at The National Cemetery at Port Hudson. Before the funeral service, there will be a gathering of all friends and family for cake and coffee at Fellowship Church in Zachary at 12:00 noon.
