Marion Dixon Simmons

Marion Dixon Simmons, also known as “LADY”, passed from this world Thursday, May 5, 2022.  Lady was born on April 26,1929 in Whitehaven, Tennessee. She was proceeded in death by her husband Richard Paul Simmons and her parents Chester and Irene Dixon. Richard was older than sliced bread and Marion was a little younger than Mickey Mouse. Lady is survived by her brother Charles and wife Freida Dixon, her two sons, Mark D. Jordan wife Valerie, and Gary T. Jordan wife Renee. Lady is also survived by two grandchildren, Tracy Pennington and her husband Todd, and Sean Jordan and his wife Krista. Lady moved to Baton Rouge in 1956 and worked as a bookkeeper for Guaranty Income Life Insurance Co. and Moody Price LLC. She taught ballroom dance and ceramics for BREC. To round out her full life she has 5 great granddaughters, Chelsea, Ashley and Tara Pennington, and Kiley and Lilly Jordan. Services will be held May 23, 2022, at 11:00AM in The First United Methodist Church 930 North Blvd. Baton Rouge, La. 70802 in the chapel on the East Blvd. side of the compound, where she and Richard were married, with graveside service to follow at 1:00PM in The Louisiana National Cemetery 303 West Mount Pleasant Rd. Zachary La. 70791.
