Martha Wells Cayette

Martha Wells Cayette died on January 20th at the age of 79. She was the beloved and loving wife of the late Ronald Charles Cayette Sr. for 41 years. Daughter of the late Rev. David Wells Sr. and Ida Wells. Loving mother of Ronald Charles Cayette Jr. Sister of Melvin Wells Sr., Leola Jackson, Grace Lockwood, Dorothy Fontenette, the late Gloria Dean Wells, Rev. Robert Wells, Calvin Wells and David Wells Jr. Martha was born in Lessley, MS and a beloved member of her church home The Christian Assembly pastored by Dr. Richard Rayborn II. Mother, matriarch, teacher and now ancestor. She told you exactly what she thought and held you accountable for your actions. More than anything Martha was summed up by one word…strength. Though we’re devastated by her passing we are heartened in knowing she was a woman of faith and we will see her again in heaven. Those who knew Martha were blessed to have her as a teacher by profession as well as in life. She taught 42 years in the Louisiana and Mississippi school systems and left her mark of knowledge and love on students spanning 4 decades. She taught us to be true to ourselves, our values and our dreams while offering guidance, confidence and wisdom building strength in those she loved. Martha, Rest In Peace and in Prayer. We love and miss you.
