Mary Frances "L.S." Wells (née Allen), 73, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at her home in Zachary, Louisiana, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born on April 25, 1951, in Odessa, Texas, Mary was a proud graduate of Baker High School (Baker, La), forever a loyal Baker Buffalo. She embraced life with a warmth and vibrancy that touched everyone around her. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the joyful chaos of family gatherings. Whether it was crawfish boils, fish fries, volleyball games, or card nights, her house on South Street was the heart of countless cherished memories.
Mary’s greatest honor in life was being "Mama" and "Momo." She lived for her children and grandchildren, showering them with endless love and affection. She never missed a school function or sporting event, her support was unwavering. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in spoiling them at every opportunity. She had a natural gift for making people laugh & always feel welcome—family, friends, and even strangers who quickly became friends. Her feisty spirit and infectious energy drew people to her effortlessly.
She was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and carried it proudly during her life.
Much to the dismay of her late husband and youngest daughter, she was an avid LSU Tigers fan—especially when it came to LSU baseball, which held a special place in her heart.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter (“her baby girl”) Katie Wells and devoted SON-in-law Jared Browning; children: Traci Wells and Robert Wells Jr. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Beau Browning, Jax Browning, Peyton McCulloch and his wife Olivia, Star (Hannah) Wells, Garrett Wells, and Robby Wells; as well as her great-grandson Hudson Stubbs and soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter Madelyn McCulloch. She is also survived by her siblings Sandra "Dude" Stroughter, Theodora "Minnie" Mock, Gregory Allen; and numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.
She now joins in eternal rest her beloved husband of 48 years Robert Eugene "Bobby" Wells Sr., along with her parents Theodore Lansford Allen and Shirley Abbott Allen; brothers Barry "Bud" Allen and Paul Anthony "Tony" Allen; nephew Gregory "Goo" Allen; and niece Kristy Fontenot.
Mary was a fighter, a true warrior, having battled multiple myeloma/bone marrow cancer for nearly a decade. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Michael Castine (Hematology & Oncology) and his compassionate staff for their dedicated care throughout her fight.
She left this world exactly as she had hoped—peacefully at home with “her little family on Blackwater Road.” While the world will be far less lively without her spark, heaven has gained a beautiful soul. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
There will be a Celebration Of Life for Mary to be held at a later date, details forthcoming. (Please reach out to Katie for information)
