On January 12th 2023, we sadly lost Mayola Ross of Baton Rouge at the age of 82. She loved being outdoors, volunteering at the prison ministry, thrifting, and attending church. She enjoyed going to the creek to gather rocks, go fishing, and look for driftwood. She also enjoyed hiking and camping. The love for her grandkids and family was unconditional. She took much delight in cooking meals for her family. Preceded in death by her parents John “Duty” and Catherine Smith, and by her sister Mildred Miller. Mayola Ross is survived by her son Wayne York (Vanessa), granddaughter Alicia Bourque (Taner), daughters Cathy Perer (Kris) and Shelia Westmoreland. Her niece Linda Day and brothers David Smith and Floyd Smith (Sandy). As well as her grandchildren: Knox Bourque, Chandler Perer, Kaleb Ricker, Avery Perer, David Byrd, and Zack Butchka.
Arrangements are pending at this time for a celebration of life.
