Michael Otis Callinan

July 12, 1985 — August 29, 2024

Michael Otis Callinan, remembered as “Mike” or “Neighbor Mike” was born in Nyack, New York on July 12, 1985 and went to be with Christ Jesus and his mother Angel McStay on the early morning of August 29, 2024.

Mike was a beloved father to two boys and a friend to all. He was as patient and gentle as anyone, but especially with his sons AJ (7) and Arthur (2). He was always willing to serve others, help in any way he could, and bring joy and light to a fallen world. If you asked Mike how he was or how his day was going, you were sure to get one of the two responses out of him: “Everyday’s a great day!” or “Oh, living the dream!” He would take time to talk to anyone and let them know he was genuinely there for them, at any hour. If you were around Mike, you weren’t leaving until you smiled from ear to ear or laughed. He was often referred to as hilarious, the funniest guy in the room, and a “meme” lord. Mike didn’t have the best upbringing, but he always brought the best attitude to every situation.

Mike spent his childhood as an only child growing up in Las Vegas, NV where he found his joy and passion in hockey, boxing, and becoming a national wrestling champion. That love for sports carried into adulthood; Mike dedicated a lot of his time writing and creating content for sports fans, particularly soccer and UFC fans. During his last summer, Mike discovered a new hobby; tree cutting. Mike and his dear friend Darrell spent the summer of 2024 with his sons, AJ & Arthur, Darrell’s father-in-law “Cat”, and Mike’s acquired father, Abundio, cutting every tree in sight between the two properties.

He is survived by his sons, AJ Callinan and Arthur Callinan; the mother of his sons, Natalie Cardenas; his acquired parents, Melba & Abundio Cardenas; his acquired sisters Kimmie Cardenas, Ashley Naquin and Michele Parrish; his acquired brothers; Beau Merritt and Brandon Naquin; his acquired nieces, Lexi Mooney and Phoenyx Naquin; his acquired nephews, Gavin Cardenas and Patrick Mooney; and his dearest friends Darrell Moak and Dennis Haynes.

A memorial service for Michael will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, at the Church International in St. Amant (Timothy Building). Visitation will begin at 4pm and service will begin at 5pm.
