It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael (Mickey) Duane Moore on February 1, 2025. Mickey was a man of warmth and dedication, whose infectious charm and humor brightened the lives of all who knew him. Born on April 30, 1958, in Greenville, Mississippi, to Freddie Luke Moore of Leflore, Mississippi, and Ruthie Irene Cockrell Moore of Magee, Mississippi, Mickey's life was a testament to love and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kelly Michelle Moore, and his cherished parents, Fred and Irene Moore.
Mickey leaves behind his devoted wife, Jeannie Friedman Moore; his daughters, Candy Moore and Johni Allen; his son, Mickey Allen; and his adored grandchildren, Britani Zahn, Julien (JK) Ruff, and Carlisle Ruff.
Mickey proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Antitank Assaultman and Light Motor Vehicle Operator with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, receiving an honorable discharge in June 1981. His service was distinguished by earning the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Pistol Expert Badge, along with the Good Conduct Medal, reflecting his commitment and excellence. Stationed initially in Jackson, Mississippi, Mickey's military tenure was a source of great pride.
Beyond his service, Mickey was passionate about music, skillfully playing the drums and guitar with friends at local venues, sharing his joy through music with his community.
A memorial service to celebrate Mickey's life will be held at First Denham Church 27735 Louisiana 16, Denham Springs, LA, on Monday February 10th 2025 at 6pm.
