Mona Kaye Bercegeay, age 66, a resident of Saint Amant, Louisiana, and born in Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
Mona dedicated 29 years of her life as a bus driver for the Ascension Parish School Board, where she touched the lives of countless children and families in the community.
She is survived by her beloved children, Virgie Montz (Ryan) and Jared "Boo" Bercegeay (Katie); her cherished grandchildren, Kole Baker, Mason Montz, Gavin Montz, Audrey Bercegeay, Maizy Bercegeay, and Baker Bercegeay; her loving sisters, Monica Boudreaux and Tammy Charbonnet (Jimmy), step mother, Margaret Sanchez; and her dear father-in-law, Pee Wee Bercegeay She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law, Jimmy Bercegeay, Wayne Bercegeay, and Rodney Bercegeay (Joann); her sisters-in-law, Patti Alford and Tammy Blanchard (Numa); as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Mona was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Bercegeay; her parents, VJ Sanchez and Dot Moody; her sister, Darla Landry, brother in law, Gary Boudreaux; and her mother-in-law, Audrey Bercegeay.
Mona enjoyed dedicating her time to tending her flower beds, fishing at the camp, and always cherishing moments with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 7, 2024, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant from 930 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Wade Bercegeay, Clint Bercegeay, Austin Landry, Kole Baker, Ryan Charbonnet, and Ryan Montz. Honorary pallbearer will be Rodd Bercegeay.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Ochsner ALS Clinic, The Team Gleason Foundation, Baton Rouge Hospice, and each of Mona's caregivers, friends, and family.
Mona's presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
