A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, at St. George Catholic Church for Monica "Mikie" Gautreaux Graham, 77, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, at the St. Joseph Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA.
Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Father Paul Yi will officiate the Mass, with interment to follow at a later date at St. Bernard Catholic Church Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge, LA.
Monica was born on January 24, 1948, in Gonzales, LA, on a cold winter day. Affectionately known as Mikie to her family and friends, she was a proud graduate of Gonzales High School and later earned a degree from Spencer Business College in Baton Rouge. In 1967, she began working as a secretary stenographer at the new Texaco refinery in Convent, LA, where she met her husband, Bernis (Harry) Graham. She later dedicated herself to raising their two children, Terri and Mark, before returning to work as the school secretary for Sacred Heart Catholic School in Baton Rouge.
Mikie had a natural gift for organization, a skill she applied in every aspect of her life—whether planning family vacations, coordinating events, or curating cherished photo albums filled with special memories. She also had a deep love for cooking and found joy in feeding others. Whether preparing meals for family gatherings or whipping up a favorite dish for a friend, she expressed her love through the food she shared.
She was warm, friendly, and had an infectious sense of humor. Mikie loved to laugh and had a knack for making others smile with her quick wit and joyful spirit. She also had a deep appreciation for music and often filled her home with melodies that brought life and warmth to her family.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mikie’s kindness and unwavering faith touched the lives of many. She was a longtime member of St. George Catholic Church, where she found strength in her community and friendships, attending Mass and devoting time to her rosary group.
Mikie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Bernis H. Graham Jr.; her son, Mark Graham, and his wife, Becky Graham; her grandchildren, Evelyn and Will Graham; her son-in-law, Christopher Erwin, and grandsons, Townes and Adley Erwin; her sister, Carla Gautreaux Rutherford; and her brother, Ruckle Gautreaux, and his wife, Loretta Gautreaux.
She is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved daughter, Terri Graham Erwin; her parents, Lula Braud Gautreaux and Ruckle Leon Gautreaux; and her sister, Deborah Gautreaux.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at the St. Joseph Carpenter House for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Monica’s honor at https://www.stjosephhospicefoundation.org/donations.php.
