Patsy Harrell, 82, of Donaldsonville, La, retired Branch Assistant at Edward Jones Investments died Friday, July 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 20, 1941, to Bruno J DeLeo, Sr. and his wife Dorothy Landry DeLeo. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene Harrell, her three children, Kevin Harrell (Doren), Scott Harrell and Stacy Sagona (Richard), three granddaughters, Jessica Harrell (Noah), Lindsey Harrell and Carley Harrell and a great granddaughter, Aria. She is also survived by her brothers, Bruno J. DeLeo, Jr. (Nancy) and Wayne DeLeo (Terry), sister-in-law, Judy Harrell, nephews Wayne DeLeo, Jr. (Shannon), Jerry Harrell (Brandi), Nieces Julie DeLeo and Shawn Harrell as well as a host of special first cousins with whom she shared a close and loving relationship. She was preceded in death by her parents, Goddaughter Catherine “Tootsie” DeLeo, sisters in law Marion Valenti and Evangeline Sciortino, brothers-in-law Jerry Harrell, William Harrell, Sam Valenti and her beloved aunts and uncles who were very formative in her life, especially following the death of her mother at an early age.
Patsy graduated from Ascension Catholic High School and attended Nicholls State University. During her life, she also worked at A.C.H.S., Talbot, Sotile, Carmouche, Marchand & Marcello, and O’Neil J. Parenton Law Firms. She was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail and cheerfulness. During her time at A.C.H.S., she founded the A.C.H.S. Sunshine Girls, the schools drill team. Under her direction, the team would go on to win many awards over the years with members of her team invited to dance at events around the world. Patsy and her husband were both proud supporters of A.C.H.S. They both volunteered countless hours there and long after their children and grandchildren had graduated, they could be seen in the stands of various sporting events cheering on the Bulldogs. Patsy was known to vigorously and loudly encourage game officials to see things her way.
Visitation will be at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm conducted by Father Matt Dupre. Interment will be private.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Elizabeth Bollinger, caregivers, Nikki Meads, Monique Ballard, Lois Sawyer and NaKirah Hearns for their excellent and compassionate care.
