“Carve your name on hearts, not gravestones. A legacy is written into the minds of others and the tales they share about you.” Paul “Fishhook” Myers, of Gonzales, Louisiana, was a loving father, paw paw, and friend to many. He passed away at his hunting camp doing what he loved on November 16, 2024, in Pine Grove, LA.
Paul was born in Brownsville, TX, on October 27, 1955, to Billy Gene and Juanita Myers. After graduating from East Ascension High School, Paul followed in his father’s footsteps and worked at Ormet until he retired.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the camp. Paul also loved hanging out and cooking with his friends and family and working in his yard. Affectionately known as “Fishhook”, he was loved by everyone he met and always wore a smile. He was the type of friend who did anything for anyone. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Kristi Myers Carriere (Derrick); grandchildren, Brayden Carter, Kaylyn Carter, Jaxton Carter, Dexton Hayden, Derrick Carriere II, and Eli Carriere; mother, Juanita Williams Myers; siblings Mark Myers (Sharon) and Anna Sagona (Mike); and sister-in-law Kim Myers.
