Tribute for Peggy Marie Beilenson

Peggy Marie (Taylor) Beilenson, of Plaquemine, Louisiana and, formerly, of Longwood, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 23, 2025, at the age of 71.

She was born on June 29, 1953, in Alton, Illinois to the late Charles Robert Taylor and the late Eileen Minnie (Sedlacek) Taylor. She graduated from East Alton Wood River Community High School in 1971. After her brother, Pat, took her on a memorable road trip to the Keys, she decided she would move to Florida as soon as she could. She was a resident of Central Florida for 40 years. She and her best friends (Sue and Jan) were true 80s ladies with hair to prove it as they dominated the wallpaper industry. As styles changed and wallpaper faded out, Peggy changed industries to concrete design work and pavers with Sundek where she continued to excel as top salesman.

As a single mom, she found a way to work full-time and always be there for anyone who needed her. To all her “girls” that she became a second mom to, may you ever remember her dancing her way into the room, laughing at herself, wanting to play, not letting us eat in the Cougar, baking Christmas cookies, buckeyes, and rum cakes, silly singing, wrapping us in plastic bags after horseback riding, and pure love for you all.

She married the late Mark Lawrence Beilenson on March 16, 1998. No Vegas wedding would be complete without the restaurant catching on fire and a surprise Elvis that she didn’t want. Mark and Peggy were such opposites, but they fit perfectly together and caused just enough chaos for their children to know how to laugh even when they wanted to cry.

Peggy loved her tea with honey, her coke with whiskey, and her yard full of flowers. She couldn’t get through a day without walking 10,000 steps, digging in the dirt, or doing a load of laundry. You could always find her at Publix, Tractor Supply, or Ace Hardware. She loved estate sales, collected dishes, hid things around the house, was quick to put your cup in the dishwasher, never put anything back in the same spot, and always did the opposite of what she was told.

She loved and adopted everyone as her own. Whether you called her Peggy, Poggy, Pegs, Mom, Grandma Peggy, or Grams, to know her was to love her.

Even as her memory faded, her strength, resilience, empathy, and personality shined through as she continued to bring smiles and wreak havoc everywhere she went. She loved to dance, make people laugh, and be surrounded by people.

Her memory lives on with her children Shawn (Makara) Abner, Dawn (Kyle) Himel, Megan Beilenson, Michael Beilenson, and Marisa Beilenson, grandchildren Cole and Kent Himel, Carmen and Natalie Beilenson, Jalen Richards, and Valeria and Noelia Rodriguez, sister Cindy Miller, brother Richard Blundell, sisters-in-law Ronnie (Jack) Eichelberger and Carolyn Suhre, brothers-in-law Ross (Debbie) Abner and James (Debbie) Abner, sisters-in-heart Patricia Eubanks and Susan Engdahl, nieces and nephew, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mark Lawrence Beilenson, former husband Ronald Ray Abner, grandparents, parents Charles Robert Taylor and Eileen (Sedlacek) Taylor, stepmom Esther Taylor, parents-in-law, brother Charles Patrick Taylor, sister Barbara Moeser, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-heart Jan Amrhein.
