It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Peggy Mire Landry, a beloved member of our community, who left us on April 5, 2025, in Prairieville, Louisiana. Born in Baton Rouge, Peggy's life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication, and she will be mourned deeply by all who knew her.

Peggy was educated at St. Gerard's Catholic School, where she laid the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and faith. A long-standing member of St. John, the Evangelist Catholic Church, she devoted herself not only to her spiritual community but also to the Ladies Alter Society, reflecting her steadfast commitment to serving others.

Throughout her vibrant life, Peggy found joy in various hobbies and interests that brought her happiness and fulfillment. She was an avid fisherman who embraced the tranquility of nature, as well as a skilled bowler who cherished the camaraderie found in that sport, and playing bingo. Peggy also had a profound love for dancing, which brought her closer to family and friends during joyous gatherings. Her passion for cooking, especially reading recipe books, showcased her creative nature in the kitchen. In her quieter moments, Peggy immersed herself in oil painting, where she expressed her artistic talents and shared her vision of beauty with the world.

She shared a remarkable marriage of 61 years with her loving late husband, Dennis J. Landry Jr. Peggy was predeceased by her father, Maurice C. Mire, and her mother, Nora Lee Elias Mire, both of whom she cherished deeply.

She is survived by her children Denise L. McFarlin and husband John, Debbie A. Landry and husband Blayne Coupel, Dean A. Landry and wife Julie and their daughter Emily Marie; also survived by her beloved grandchildren Dara N. Landry and Hayden A. Landry children of Dean Landry and ex-daughter-in-law Heidi Whittington, and her much loved chihuahua, "Rosie", who was her constant companion for over ten years. 

A ceremony celebrating Peggy's life will be held on Thursday April 10, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church visitation will begin at 9:30 am until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Prairieville Community Cemetery. 

Peggy Mire Landry leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and creativity. Her warmth and kindness will be forever remembered by those whose lives she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who carry her memory in their hearts.
