Reverend Herman W. Bounds of Calcasieu, Louisiana, passed from this life to his eternal home on February 14, 2025. He was 92 years old. A retired minister, he served as pastor of several churches, including Lone Star Pentecostal Church in Glenmora, Louisiana; New Hebron Pentecostal Church in New Hebron, Mississippi; North Selmer Pentecostal Church in Selmer, Tennessee; Galvez Pentecostal Church in Galvez, Louisiana; and Shady Bower Pentecostal Church in Walker, Louisiana. Upon retirement, he returned to Lone Star where he faithfully attended and served as Bishop.
Herman married the love of his life, Vera Forbes Bounds, and they were married for 52 years before her death in 2005. Together they raised three children, served the Lord in the ministry, and were devoted to their extended family. Herman learned to repair small appliances and occasionally planted a garden. He regularly sang and played his guitar in church, attended revivals and gospel singings, and loved telling stories of growing up with his brothers and sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Bounds and Zella Robinson Bounds; his brothers Herbert, Julius, and Leslie; and his sister Marjorie. He credited the late Reverend Charlie L. Robinson, his uncle, with leading him to ministry as a young man.
Herman is survived by his children, Karen Bounds Buratt, Kathy Bounds Hinckley and her husband Bob, and Benny Bounds and his wife Lisa. He had eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews he enjoyed visiting.
