Rick graduated to Heaven on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. A longtime resident of Chattanooga, TN, he was residing in Livingston, LA at the time of his passing. First he was a dad. Rick was a person who enjoyed making people laugh even if his jokes were hokie. If you ever heard him talk, then you know why his nickname was Country. Rick was probably the greatest softball player in his league at the time. Every 3 out of 4 bats, he would knock the ball out of the park. The only problem with that is that swinging a bat really messed with his golf game. Rick was known by many for his vegetable gardens. He would plant a hundred tomato plants along with other vegetables every year and then give away most of the crop. He believed there is a God. Rick came to this realization when he broke his neck in a diving accident. He said God lifted him out of the water holding his head to prevent it from moving. Rick confirmed later with the paramedics that no human was seen assisting him. Second, Rick Miller was a child of God. He very much looked forward to going to church and singing in the choir. Probably his most favorite thing of all was telling others about Jesus. He loved his daughter and grandson as much as life itself. Rick leaves his friends and family with many happy and fond memories. His many friends will miss hearing his country twang as well as his readiness to be there if needed. In his last days he said he was ready to go be with his Maw Maw and Paw Paw. They were waiting for him at Pearly Gates along with his Lord and Savior. Now Rick is shouting and singing on the Streets of Gold. Rest in Peace and don’t forget to Let ‘er rip tater chip! Rick is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie Card; grandson, Carson Card; sisters, Betty Mahaffey, Jeanne Jones; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eula Miller. A ceremony celebrating Rick’s life was held at Fundamental Baptist Church in Livingston on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with Pastor Joey Wampler officiating.
