Rita Ann Stewart Devall, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on February 3, 2022, at the age of 80. Employed with East Baton Rouge Parish School System over 30 years. Rita started as Special Education Teacher and Pupil Appraisal. After retirement served as a supervisor for student teaching at Southern University. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, good food, time with her children and grandchildren, traveling with her husband and shopping. Rita was a parishioner of Saint Jude Catholic Church, Baton Rouge.
Preceded in Death by two brothers: Clarence Stewart and David Thomas; mother: Doretha Bertrand Stewart Thomas and father: Clarence Stewart; Grandparents: Emanuel & Berta Bertrand; Robert Stewart and Adeline Coon; aunts and uncles Sidney Bertrand Sr., James Bertrand, Robert Bertrand Sr., Emanuel Bertrand Jr., Clifford Bertrand Sr, Oliver Bertrand, Eva Bertrand Guidry, Mary Bertrand Guthier, and Bertha Bertrand Taylor.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Theodore “Ted” Devall, Sr;
children Theodore “Teddy” Devall, Jr (Wendy), Neonetta “Lisa” Devall, and Tanya Devall-Harris (Richard); grandchildren Aisha Yesufu, Fort Lewis, WA; Devall Harris, Houston, TX; Dorian Harris, Houston, TX, Tristian Devall and Julian Devall, Brusly, LA; Devin Harris, Houston, TX, and niece Samantha Thomas, Baton Rouge.
