Roberta was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on May 29, 1943, to Malcolm Albert Savor and Bernice Alice Rasmussen. She was the youngest of three children and was known as ‘Bobbi’. She graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth, Minnesota in 1961. After graduation, Bobbi began a career in data entry.
In 1968, Bobbi and her best friend moved to Denver, Colorado, where she quickly found a job in her field. While visiting a cousin at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, she met the love of her life, John McKisson, who was in the hospital bed next to her cousin. She became a frequent visitor to the hospital after meeting John. Before John was shipped out to Tacoma, Washington, John asked Bobbi if she wanted “to go on an adventure,” they wed one week later, on September 27, 1969. They went on to have two children, Sean David and James Aaron.
In 1973, John and Bobbi moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Bobbi was a homemaker for the early part of her children’s lives. She was a very involved and loving mother. Her favorite hobbies included sewing and baking. She was well known for her “McKisson cookies”. Bobbi was employed at the local Grocery store, Albertsons. She served many years as part of the bakery and eventually worked her way to Assistant Manager of the Albertsons Bakery before retiring in 2010.
Bobbi had a personality that lit up every room she walked into. Her infectious smile and vibrant spirit made a lasting impression on everyone who met her. She was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Bobbi and her family attended Francis Asbury UMC of Baton Rouge for many years, where she cultivated her faith and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women’s group.
They enjoyed 51 years in Baton Rouge together as residents. Last year, John went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2024. They had 54 years of loving marriage and many adventures.
Bobbi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Martin McKisson; her parents, Malcolm Albert Savor and his wife, Bernice Alice Rasmussen Savor; and her sisters, Geraldine Isabelle Savor Mattson and Jacqueline May Savor Thompson.
