Ronald 'Ronnie' Greenfield

Ronnie was born in Upton, West Yorkshire UK to parents Edward & Elizabeth Greenfield (Ted & Betty). Ronnie was their second son but sadly his older brother Teddy died at just a few months old in 1947. His younger brother lan was born in 1957. The family lived in West Yorkshire in the UK. Ronnie's big interest was music and he enjoyed being part of a singing duo, a close harmony band and later, a comedy duo. He was also a talented artist. 

Ron was always very proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed their family holidays to visit his Mum's family in Glasgow, Scotland. He also took after his dad as a proud Yorkshire man, living most of his life in Yorkshire (also known as "God's own county"). Ron was quick to embrace the internet in its early days which is how he met Mamie. Mamie came to visit Ron in the UK in 2000 and they were married on 13th July 2002. In 2010 after a varied career in music and teaching Ronnie retired from the Trent Valley Academy to pursue a new life with Mamie in the United States.

Ronnie is survived by his wife Mamie and her two sons Shawn and Donovan Cleveland in the United States and his brother lan and wife Jan in the UK. Ron was one of the eldest of the cousins and was loved and respected by them all. Scottish cousins on his mother's side are, Ann, May, Rab, Lynn, Margaret, Caroline, Joe & Josephine, with Ann & Lynn, Lena & Lorraine and Glenys on the Greenfield side.

Although Ron and Mamie were a long way from Yorkshire and Scotland we all kept in regular contact with each other. He is sadly missed, and our thoughts, love and prayers are with Mamie and Ron's American family and friends.

Rest in peace Ronnie from your cousins, Ann, May, Rab, Lynn, Margaret, Caroline, Joe & Josephine. And from the Greenfield side, cousins Ann & Lynn, Lena & Lorraine and Glenys.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Crossfire Auditorium, 8919 World Ministry Ave., Baton Rouge. Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by the memorial service at 11:00am.
