A native of St Amant and a resident of the VA home in Reserve, LA. Roy passed away on October 18, 2024, at the age of 75. He served in the Army as a med specialist from March 1969 to March 1971. Once home from his military service he began to serve his community in St. George and Baton Rouge as a first responder fireman from September 1971 till his retirement in May 1997. Roy also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his two children Michelle Guillory (Greg) and Trey Bourgeois (Holly). Grandchildren Mikal Dayries (Tre) and Hannah Guillory. A great- grandchild Will Dayries. Also survived by his siblings: Cecelia Lambert (Donald), Patrick Bourgeois (Stephanie), Jan Quinn (Dale), Charlene Bourgeois, Deborah Heath (Rodney), Gerald Bourgeois, Veronica Bourgeois (Craig), Daryl Bourgeois (Barbara), Jerry Bourgeois, and Jeffery Bourgeois (Danette). As well as his three god children Dayna Sanchez, Mike Lambert, and Elizabeth Parent. Roy is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and his wonderful companion Sandra Bourgoyne.
He is preceded in death by his mother Elma Mae (Shy) Babin and father Venance Joseph Bourgeois. He is also preceded in death by his nephew Chase Laiche.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Earl Cornett, Jeffrey Bourgeois, Jerry Bourgeois, Craig Bourgeois, Eric Lambert, and Gerald Bourgeois. Honorary pallbeares will be Patrick Bourgeois, Daryl Bourgeois, and Greg Guillory.
