Ruby Hanno Davis, affectionately known as Sister Ruby, was born on October 15, 1934, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. She departed from this world on March 16, 2025, in Denham Springs, Louisiana, leaving behind a profound legacy of faith, service, and love.
Sister Ruby dedicated over sixty years of her life to her vocation, serving as the pastor of the House of Prayer Church with an unwavering commitment to her congregation and community. Her work extended beyond the walls of her church as she traveled as an evangelist for numerous churches, tirelessly sharing her passion for Christianity. She was a licensed minister with Friendly Faith Ministries, where her spiritual influence touched countless lives.
In addition to her pastoral duties, Ruby had a deep love for music, often expressing her spirit through singing. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as taking rides and cultivating her passion for every type of flower, which led to beautiful moments spent in her cherished flower gardens.
Ruby was the beloved wife of the late William P. Davis, and she mourned the loss of her son, Earl Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Cecile Ebby, and her sons, Bill Davis and Rev. J. B. Davis. Also mourning her passing are her sister, Agnes Hano Oliphant, and her brother, Clifford Hanno Jr. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren will carry forward her memory, reflecting the love and values she instilled in them.
The services in honor of Sister Ruby will be held on March 19, 2025, beginning with a visitation at Friendly Faith Tabernacle in Independence, Louisiana, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM. A graveside service will take place at Holly Gardens Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana, commencing at 1:15 PM.
Sister Ruby’s life was a testament to her faith and her commitment to serving others. She will be remembered for her kindness, her vibrant spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her loved ones and her community.
