Ruth Smith, born December 4, 1954, in Clay County, KY, passed away in Hammond, LA on May 6, 2024, at the age of 69.

She had three sons that were with her when she passed that she loved beyond measure. Her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. She loved her family, cooking for friends, and was well known for her delicious homemade candy and her charisma for life.

Ruth is survived by her three sons, Charles Harris (Penny), Ernest Clyde Harris Junior (Jackie), and James Harris; grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Shelby Andrew Harris; great grandchildren, Urijah, Jettison, Jayden and Aubree; brothers and sisters, CP Smith (Pete & Nina), Kathleen Couch (Kat & Bent) and "the twins" adopted sisters Loraine Hisel and Loretta Lawson; special friends, Sheila, George, Tom, Joline, Teresa, and Jan as well as a host of special nieces and nephews all of Manchester, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her father, Isom Smith; her mother, Mary C. Smith; sisters and brothers, Lucinda Eversole, Martha Bishop, Edith (Peanut) Smith, Armilda Carr (Mel), Hazel Smith, James Darrell Smith, Rufus Smith, DD Smith, and Henry Smith (Dobber); grandson Shelton.

A memorial to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held at a later date.
