A ceremony celebrating the life of Shirley “Sweetie” Durbin will be held at River of Life Worship Center Church Port Vincent, on Saturday May 18th, visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time begins at 11:00 am.
Shirley was born in Baton Rouge on March 12, 1935, and passed from this life on April 21, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center Baton Rouge at the age of 89 years.
She was a resident of Port Vincent and a member of River of Life Worship Center, where she was a faithful member and supported missions. She enjoyed gardening, shopping and had a passion for time spent with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Huey Pearce Durbin, and her parents Louis M. and Ouida Tate Bankston.
"Survivors include her special granddaughter in love, Vada Willis. Shirley was an only child and is survived by seven first cousins and their descendants, friends, and her church family.
She and her husband, Huey, were great cooks who loved getting together and sharing food with others."
