Shirley Mae Howell Fridge

Shirley Mae Howell Fridge passed away on April 18, 2022,  at the beautiful age of 94, surrounded by the love of her family, at the home of her daughter Laurie Brumfield.   She was born and raised in New Orleans and resided in Brittany for over 68 years where she made her home and raised her children.   In short, Shirley was full of life and one tough lady who was loved by so many.  She retired from the state of Louisiana in 1996 then enjoyed lots of travel and spending time with her family and grandchildren.  In keeping with her New Orleans roots, she especially loved all thing involving Mardi Gras.  She is survived by her six children; Charles “Buddy” Fridge, III (Cheryl), Lucille “Lucy” Gautreaux (Gordon), Rodney Fridge (Joan), James Fridge (Rhonda), John Fridge (Joann), Laurie Brumfield .  Also survived by Kathy Hudson, her daughter at heart, two brothers, Robert Howell and Jerry Howell; her 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Aida Alley, and four brothers, Alva Howell, Rodney Howell, Eddie Howell and Billy Howell. Services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2022. With visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 LA-621, Gonzales, Louisiana.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mark Church.
