Terry L. Toney, age 70, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Franklinton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge. Born and raised in Franklinton, Terry moved to Baton Rouge in 1974, where he began a distinguished career with the Louisiana Office of Natural Resources. He retired in 2004 as the Supervisor of Mineral Leases, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism.
Terry found joy in tending to his garden, which reflected his love for nature and hard work. He cherished family vacations and the many memories created with loved ones over the years. His kind heart and deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Patrick A. Toney and Cynthia Toney of Independence, LA; his nephew, Patrick A. Toney Jr. “Drew”and wife Amanda Toney of Baton Rouge; his niece, Kristie Toney of Bakersfield, CA; four great-nieces and nephews, and Bernard Bose of Baton Rouge, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. Toney and Frances S. Toney, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became.
