Tunya John Jenkins, a devoted homemaker and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge. Born on December 1, 1964, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tunya lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and a spirit that touched many.
Throughout her life, Tunya was known for her beautiful spirit and friendly soul. She had a passion for music and dancing that brought joy to those around her. An innate caretaker, she devoted herself to nurturing her family and friends, loving everyone unconditionally. Her hobbies included cooking and cleaning, activities that she approached with love and dedication, often preparing meals that became cherished family traditions.
Tunya's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her daughters, Chassidy Guy and Sara Jenkins; her son, Willie Jenkins Jr.; her grandchildren, Eian Guy, Alyei Guy, Mckenzei Guy, and Zoei Guy; and her great-grandchild, Remy Guy. They will forever hold the memories of her laughter, her caring nature, and the warmth of her presence.
Tunya was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel John and Jeanette Fitzhugh, and her sister, Tammy John. Their memories will remain a cherished part of her legacy.
Her long battle with cancer was met with the same grace and resilience that defined her life. Tunya's enduring spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
