Sam Tyler Bethea, aged 33, passed away on October 6, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA after an 18-month battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Born on July 31, 1991, in Fayetteville, AR, Tyler was a vibrant soul known for his humor and deep sense of responsibility towards his family and friends. He graduated from Minden High School in 2010 and earned a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 2015.
Tyler was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Minden. His passions included being an avid Lego enthusiast, collecting sports memorabilia, woodworking, and following LSU sports fervently.
He leaves behind his loving parents, Sallie and Sam Bethea; siblings, Hardy and Madeline; and maternal grandfather, L.H. Lee, Jr. Aunt Vicki & Uncle Ben Sydboten; Aunt Regina and Uncle Virgil Bethea; Aunt Jan and Uncle Monroe Bethea; Aunt Beth and Uncle David Johnston; Aunt Rise’ and Uncle T. P. Bethea and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Warrene Lee, paternal grandparents, Audrey Bethea Tolson and T.P. Bethea, Sr.
A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church in Minden on Sunday, October 13 at 3:00 PM, with the family receiving guests from 2:00 PM. In honor of Tyler's love for LSU, attendees are requested to wear LSU or purple and gold colors.
The family requests no flowers. If you would like to honor Tyler’s life, he asked that contributions be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to support Dr. Victor Lin's research and clinical trials.
