Funeral Services for Verda Emma Smith Burge, 85, will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Cane Market Baptist Church, 35652 Cane Market Rd, Denham Springs, LA 70706 with Rev. Terry Booth as officiant with burial to follow at Amite Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 12:00pm until the time of service.
She was a longtime member of Amite Baptist Church and attended Cane Market Baptist Church, an office manager/medical billing clerk for most of her life, enjoyed sewing, needlework and crocheting. She enjoyed planting flowers and was very dedicated to the Lord. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Cole and husband Ben, David Burge, Nancy Poole and husband Dave and Tammy May and husband Kenneth; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Monroe Burge; daughter-in-law, Cindy Burge; grandson, Luther Cole; brother, Charles Nelson; mother, Verda Laib.
The family would like to express their thanks for the service given by Golden Age Nursing Home and Lifesource Hospice.
