Carlton Wade Johnson, a native of Elmore County, AL and a long timeresident of the Alexandria / Pineville, LA area passed away at his home inGonzales, LA on Wednesday evening, September 6, 2023 at the age of 90.He leaves a legacy of love and dedication to his family, his church andcountless animals over the years. Wade never met a stranger, and thisserved him well not only in his service in the U.S. Navy, but in his successfuland devoted career as a Sales Manager for Mason Corporation. He was fullof energy and always on the go, whether in his car as he covered theroadways of Louisiana, Mississippi and East Texas, or jogging country roadsnear his home where he would sometimes return carrying or leading a straydog. He will be greatly cherished as a devoted husband to his wife, father tohis children, and as beloved “Paw Paw” to the grandkids. He also greatlyenjoyed bird (quail) hunting with his pointers and was an avid AlabamaCrimson Tide football fan. Wade is survived by his wife of over 66 years, thelove of his life and his right hand in most everything, Jeanette RichburgJohnson of Pike County, AL; his sister Loreda Nelson of Marbury, AL; threechildren – Brent Johnson (Alice) of Houston, TX, Kyle Johnson (Angela) ofPlano, TX, and Jana Johnson O’Banion (Joe) of Gonzales, LA; fivegrandchildren – Carlton Johnson (Rose) of Temple, TX, Cameron Johnson ofLos Angeles, CA, Caitlin O’Banion Womack (Craig) of Birmingham, AL,Sydney O’Banion Patton (Todd) of Central, LA, Alicia Pickens (Chris) ofOakwood, TX; seven great grandchildren – Kennedy and Keegan Johnson,Jace Cottrell, Jo-Jo, Lawson, Memphis, and Lincoln Pickens, plus a Pattonbaby boy on the way. Wade is preceded in death by his parents Marvin andAlberta (Wilson) Johnson, and brother-in-law, Bill Nelson. A private servicewill take place at Louisiana National (Veterans) Cemetery followed by acelebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests thatyou consider a donation to the Carlton Wade Johnson Memorial Fund at TheSt. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis, TN.
