Bill Haug passed away on May 10, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Bill was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. He graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was active in track and both instrumental and vocal music. He next attended Virginia Tech where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree (with honors) in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science Degree. He worked as a chemical, safety, and environmental engineer for Exxon Mobil Chemical Company for 35 years. After retirement from Exxon Mobil, he worked for G. R. Stucker and Associates for 10 years. Prior to retirement, he was a Registered Professional Engineer in both Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Bill was an ardent fan of his beloved Virginia Tech Hokie football team and liked all genres of music. He was also fond of all things pertaining to automobiles, especially Formula One racing. He was a reading friend in the Volunteers in Public Schools Program. He was also a long-time member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where his activities included Sunday School Teacher, the Chancel Choir, Lay Minister, the Southeast Ministries food program, and the Seeker’s Sunday School Class. He was active in the Baton Rouge chapter of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. He is survived by his sister, Mary Catherine Haug; four children, Willy Haug (Heather), John Haug (Erin), Debbie Ellington (Gary), Whit McConnell (Wendy); longtime girlfriend, Linda Grabski; 15 grandchildren: Zoe, Ario, Abigail, and Evelyn Haug, Matt and Shaye Aultman, Michelle Arceneaux, Melissa and Jeremy Bell, Elizabeth Boynton, Alex, Evan and Kaden McConnell, Kendall Essex, Kristen Dyer; and 11 great grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by parents, Isabelle O’Brien Haug of Appomattox Virginia and Adolph Haug of Zurich Switzerland; his first wife, Ann Babcock Haug; his second wife, Harlean Fontenot Haug; daughters, Diane Bell and Dawn Aultman; and grandson, Kevin Bell. He was a friend of Bill Wilson for 42 years. A memorial service will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 with visitation from 10:00am until the service at 12:00pm.
