William Jackson “Bill” Oliver III passed away in the early hours Friday, July 8th, 2022 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, at the age of 83, losing his battle with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus and Vascular Dementia. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Jane Gordon McCauley Oliver, her parents, Mr & Mrs. Isidore Elliott McCauley(Jane Beatrice Andrews) his parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Jackson Oliver Jr.(Sadie Maude Lindsay) and his sister, Mary Kate Oliver Spring(Clarke Sheffield Spring). He is survived by his sons – William Jackson “Will” Oliver IV and Parish Elliott Oliver; His grandson Liam Thomas Oliver; sister- Lindsay Oliver Rougon (husband Don), and sister-in-laws– Claudette LeBoeuf and Lana Kiker (husband Jim), and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. A graduate of New Mexico Military Institute in 1958, Physics education at LSU, Bill was man of action and problem solving, and did not let dyslexia and dyscalculia stop him. He was indispensable in the 1980’s and 1990’s to the petrochemical industry of the Gulf South, as a pioneer in the use of Shotcrete (Dry Gunite) and epoxy injection for industrial repairs, such as finally and permanently stopping the leaks in the salt dome beneath Lake Peigneur on Jefferson Island. He and his wife, Jane Gordon McCauley Oliver, were longtime members of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where served as an Usher, and were founding members of the Gumbo Class. He enjoyed a myriad of hobbies, including sailing, photography, motorcycling, exploring, going fast, automotive modification and private aviation. Services will be on Saturday, July 16, 2022. 10:00 am Graveside Service (IT IS HOT) at Greenoaks Memorial Park, and Memorial Service and visitation at 11:00 am at Broadmoor United Methodist Church..
