A famous writer once said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give”. If that is true, then William Thornton Jr “Billy” made a great life. He was the most giving person I have ever known. Billy left us on November 10, 2021, with his family by his side. Billy was born July 26, 1953 in Independence. Billy worked for River Bend Nuclear Plant for several years, then after 15 years, he retired from PMI. Billy was a great musician he loved to spend his days picking the guitar and singing.
Billy is survived by sisters Marie Thornton and Brenda Delaune brother Joseph Thornton. Son Jarrod and wife Darlene Bankston former wife and friend Lillian Thornton Bankston, grandson Blake Bankston, granddaughter Paige and Husband Nicholas Gros, Great granddaughter Rylie Grace Gros
Preceded in death is his mother Lydia Blanchard and father William Thornton. Sisters Evelyn Brou, Barbara Harell, and Betty Dollatte. Son Dillard Thornton
Pallbearers are Chris Neal, Reese Howell, David Daniels, Larry Richardson, Caleb Richardson, and Jason Collins.
Honorary Pallbearers: Kenneth Wayne Stewart and Blake Bankston
Services for William Thornton Jr. will be held Saturday, November 13th at 11am at The River Church of Tickfaw with burial to follow in the Little River Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 9am – 11am.
